Jeanne, Lesson 4, Blk & Wht with Variety

I could have used many more marks to fill this page but I do not like things to be busy. Good exploration in mark making and trying for variety.

Jeanne, Lesson 3 Shape

Posting this weeks lesson late as I was interrupted for 5 days. Worked on finishing these tonight by adding more color and shapes. Like the line work that I feel ties the whole thing together.

Lesson 2, Speed painting with line work, veils , transparency and opacity

This was fun. I prepared the pages with gesso and medium before we started so the paint would flow more easily as we had to cover the page in 20 secs. Yes 20 secs. Use graphite to make some lines then let it dry and make layers of veils, transparent spots and opaque parts. Also trying to allow some of the original work show through. Found the initial lines very dictating as to how I applied the paint.

Lesson 1, exploring lines and veils

Enjoyed this lesson and would like to try more line work with different instruments than I used here.
I really like the mystery the veils create.

Molly

This little imp is my friend's Granddaughter, Molly.
I drew her using a grid system but am learning to "map" the face to get a better likeness.
So exciting to have a logical way to attempt a portrait then add the details or not!
